Big Week!

The Including Disability Global Summit is an online-only conference with free registration. It runs from Tuesday-Thursday (April 22-24) this week. Schedule and registration can be found here: https://including-disability.org/2025-registration/

We have two DisCoTec team presentations — one from our tech consulting work (Th 2pm) and one from our Open the Gates gaming team (W 9am) at this event!

The New Directions in Black Disability Studies Conference takes place at University of Virginia in fully hybrid mode on Friday, April 25. If you’d like to attend, registration is free: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSc0fN1qoQSSnNfmS88VxCTzkEhmwk_XNWo-bl8o_WlXesfNRw/viewform

The DisCoTec Center (funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, hat tip) is sponsoring a performance at 8am — that will be livestreamed — of Wawa’s World (Deaf Hip Hop!). I have the ad for that performance below. Please make sure to register  today to get the link if you are interested!

We will have a DisCoTec Artist Residency with Wawa (Warren Snipe) later this year!

Anita Cameron!

From June 1-20 we are hosting disability justice legend Anita Cameron as she works on her memoir as our writer-in-virtual-residence. It’s such an honor to get to see her devote this time to working on her memoir. She will be delighting us by reading a selection from her memoir and taking questions as part of our official launch of the DisCoTec Center on June 27that 7pm EST. June 27 is also Anita Cameron’s birthday, so celebrations abound!

If you’d like to join us for Anita Cameron’s Reading and DisCoTec Launch, here is the registration link. June 27, 7:00pm-8:15pm EST. We will have CART captioning and ASL interpretation provided.
